Rams Head Coach Sean Mcvay Removes Rookie Qb Stetson Bennett From Active Roster Due To Non-football Issues

After the Los Angeles Rams put first-year player Stetson Bennett on the non-football injury list, head coach Sean McVay has asked for privacy.

Bennett missed the Rams' first game of the season against the Seattle Seahawks because of a small shoulder injury.

He will now miss at least four more games. During preseason, the former Georgia Bulldogs star got the job as the backup quarterback to the starting quarterback.

However, the team has since moved experienced Brett Rypien from the practice squad to the active roster to take Stafford's place.

The Rams won't say why they put Bennet on the NFI list. McVay said that it's "bigger than football" and that the move has nothing to do with the shoulder injury.

I really hope you can honor my request to keep that within the company," he said.

I know you have a job to do, but I think there are some things that are a bit bigger and more important.

We want to keep it in-house because we respect the details, and that's where I'd like to leave it, please.
