DAVID MONTGOMERY INJURY UPDATE: WHAT WE KNOW ABOUT THE DETROIT LIONS RB

David Montgomery did well in the Detroit Lions' season-opening win over the Kansas City Chiefs and was off to a good start in Week 2.

But against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, the experienced running back got hurt.

In the third quarter of Sunday's game, Montgomery limped off the field after making a catch.

He couldn't put much weight on his right leg and had to be helped to the Lions' bench.

As Detoit's training staff tried to work on Montgomery's right leg, he seemed to be in a lot of pain.

Before leaving, Montgomery had run 16 times for 67 yards and a score. Since the senior is out, the Lions will put first-round draft pick Jahmyr Gibbs in the backfield.

Montgomery, who is 26, played for the Chicago Bears for the first four years of his career.

During a corner catch in the second quarter, Montgomery's leg was hurt. He got up and hobbled over to the bench.
